The leather finished in the tanney are the result of a process of transformation of a waste of animals bred for food, which would otherwise be disposed of and could cause health and hygene problems.
The vegan leathers that are in fashion today are not eco!
According to the study shared globally by the platform MDPI (Multidisciplinary Digital Publishing Institute) of the independent German research institute FILK (Forschungsinstitut für Leder und Kunststoffbahnen) most of the so-called eco alternatives are composed of plastic derivatives and also contain polyurethane up to 65 %.
According to the study, these alternatives also have a lower breaking strength than real leather and absorb much more water vapor.
Real leather is guaranteed of modernity but brings with it a tradition of natural materials, quality and increasingly sustainable values.
